Description:
The recital disc of Krassimira Stoyanova, soprano, and Maria Prinz, piano, offers a complete cycle of the published songs of Puccini. The idea to record this album came about following their joint recital, which included four of these chamber works. Some of the songs were written for other types of voices, but in their desire to present the listener with the full range of the song output of the composer, the performers include all his songs. The result is this interesting and original song album! Krassimira Stoyanova is especially attracted to the song genre, and Puccini is one of her favourite composers. "When I discovered his songs, I was captivated by their warmth and sincerity, their refreshing vitality!", she says. Maria Prinz’s delicate and stylish piano accompaniments completes the impression of a refined and masterful musical portrait of Puccini as song composer.
Krassimira Stoyanova has been a soloist at the Vienna State Opera since 1999. She studied the violin in Bulgaria, and during her musical education at the Academy of Music and Dance Arts in Plovdiv she also began serious vocal studies. Ms Stoyanova made her debut with the National Opera of Sofia. She has had an amazing success for a very short time as a guest performer at Carnegie Hall in New York, Royal Albert Hall and Covent Garden in London, the National Opera in Washington, the Metropolitan Opera, and many other famous opera stages. Her name is present in the programmes of renowned international festivals. She has an extremely large and varied repertoire, encompassing soprano roles from operas by Mozart, Bizet, Verdi, Offenbach, Puccini, Halévy, Donizetti and big cantata-oratorial works by Pergolesi, Rossini, Dvorak, Szymanowski, Bruckner, Bach, Beethoven …
Maria Prinz also has an intensive international concert-giving career. The daughter of the famous Bulgarian conductor and composer Konstantin Iliev, she received her musical education at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. Studies followed with Jörg Demus in Vienna and Ivonne Lefébure in Paris. She has performed with success in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Japan, the United States, Bulgaria, etc. The year 2005 was especially active for her - she collaborated with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in a series of chamber music concerts at the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, and she participated at concerts at the Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Riccardo Muti. Maria Prinz is also involved in sharing her performing experience with young musicians. Her teaching activity began in Zurich in 1983, and from 1987 she has served on the faculty of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Her recordings include two discs for the Gega New label: concertos for piano and orchestra by Haydn and Mozart (GD 233) and music for clarinet and piano by Brahms, Poulenc, and Martinu with clarinetist Petko Radev (GD 226). The Japanese label Fontek released her recording of the Brahms clarinet sonatas with Alfred Prinz, clarinet.
