“A choir of the highest class” and “an idol of children’s choirs worldwide” – these are some of the quotations form reviews regarding the Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir. Founded 45 years ago, the choir has performed in over 30 countries, and has had repeated appearances in some of them (with 16 concert tours in Japan only!). Many of the children who had sung in the choir have chosen music as their career and have become outstanding performers. The choir has been announced as a “Cultural ambassador in Europe”. Its conductor Hristo Nedyalkov has devoted his life and work to the choir and has written 400 songs for it. Many of them have become greatly popular, especially his winter and Christmas songs, which are included in the choir’s previous release (GD 287). Hristo Nedyalkov has received the “Stara Planina” order, as well as the outstanding Japanese “Golden Rays” Order of the sacred treasure.
The choir’s fourth CD released on the Gega New label features songs based on poems by distinguished Bulgarian poets. As all songs of the choir, the ones included in the present CD are very melodious. Many of the songs are sung by children at kindergartens and schools and the release will be of use to such listeners as it contains the lyrics to the songs as well as the instrumental accompaniment.
